Today’s the shortest day of the year — the winter solstice. It’s all uphill from here, folks.
Though if any of you are tempted to complain about the cold and the dark, spare a thought for my friends Bev and Graham in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. These pictures were taken at sunrise from Graham’s office downtown this morning, at 10:15 AM. The sun barely rises over the horizon at this time of year. Oh yeah, and it’s 42 below zero, with a wind chill of minus 51. Fahrenheit, Celcius, it’s all the same at that temperature. Freaking cold.
