Not in keeping with the orchid theme, but too good to pass up. The BBC reports:
The Duchess of Northumberland’s controversial poison garden has been officially opened.
Cannabis, opium poppies, magic mushrooms and coca – the source of cocaine – all feature at the centuries-old Alnwick Garden.
The garden, on which the duchess spent millions of dollars of her own money to make happen, contains over 50 varieties of poisonous plants for educational purposes.
Sounds interesting — it’s time people realized that gardening is a sexy and dangerous pursuit. Pretty flower beds are so passé anyway.
