This is a real shame — Brookside Orchids in Vancouver went into receivership just before Christmas.
They were one of the largest producers in B.C., and had a first class operation. I visited their retail store on a trip out west last year, and was impressed by the size of the greenhouses as well as the number of customers flying out of the small store with purchases. It was a family-owned business established in 1981, and it looks like they over-extended themselves on expansions. I wonder what they’re doing with their inventory of 2 million orchids….
